At Associates for Women's Medicine, we have dedicated ourselves to providing patients with as many resources as possible to achieve a healthy mind and body. Within this section of the website there are a number of resources and links we hope you will find helpful. We encourage you to complete our Gynecological Medical Questionnaire and Patient Registration/Update Form prior to your visit. It may then be faxed, mailed or simply brought to your appointment. We realize your time is valuable, and our goal is to make your time in the office focused on your healthcare.

Associates for Women's Medicine offers a wide variety of gynecological services to women of all age groups. We offer preventive screening services as well as treatment for any gynecologic condition. Our approach is to evaluate your medical needs and provide you with the best possible treatment options. Our proficiency in the operating room includes performing minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures allowing women to return to their normal activities in a shorter timeframe.

Common Gynecologic Procedure

U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends the following screening based on your age to stay healthy and prevent disease. In addition to these recommended guidelines we also recommend to be tobacco free, exercise regularly and eat a balanced healthy diet. The following recommendations are assuming you have no risk factors or any previous history. Make sure to discuss any question with your physician.

Age 18-40

  • Annual Visits

    • Sexual transmitted diseases (up to 25 or at risk)

Age 40-50

  • Annual Visits

FAQ's

Q. How far in advance do I need to schedule my yearly well women appointment?
A. Appointment books are open 3 months in advance. The earlier you schedule your appointment the more options you will have available.

Q. Should I bring my records from my previous doctor's office?
A. If you are transferring to our practice while pregnant, or if you are transferring with a chronic medical condition please bring your records with you on your first visit.

Q. How long do I have to wait for my Pap smear and/or other laboratory/pathology results?
A. Most pap smears results are typically available to our office within three weeks. Laboratory tests are often available within 7-10 days but some may take longer. Biopsies usually take five to seven days to return to the office. We strongly recommend that you discuss with your health care provider how they would like you to arrange follow-up discussion for any of these tests.

Q. I had a vaginal/urine/throat culture done in the office, how long do I have to wait for my results?
A. Cultures are generally available within 72-96 hours. We strongly recommend that you discuss with your health care provider how they would like you to arrange follow-up discussion for any of these tests.

Q. How long do I have to wait for my Mammogram results?
A. Mammograms are usually available in one week. By law the radiology centers must send patients a report of their mammogram. Since women get mammograms for different reasons we strongly recommend that you discuss with your health care provider how they would like you to arrange follow-up discussion for this test.

Q. How soon can my surgery be scheduled?
A. This varies depending on the level of urgency that is assigned. Although most surgeries are not emergencies, your surgery will be scheduled as soon as possible. The actual date will depend on your schedule, your physician's schedule, and operating room availability. If you have a problem with your scheduled surgery date please contact our Surgical Coordinator (Phone 610-903-6200, or email surgical@afwmedicine.com) or your physician.

Q. Who will pre-certify my upcoming surgery?
A. Our Surgical Coordinator will contact your insurance plan to pre-certify and verify your insurance benefits.

Q. When and where do I need to get my preoperative lab work done?
