Annual Visits
We recommend you try to schedule annual visits as far in advance as possible, keeping in mind that your insurance plan may require that 365 days elapse between annual exams.
Cancellations
If you must cancel or postpone your appointment, please call the office as soon as possible so we may offer that appointment time to another patient. After hours, you may leave a message on our office voice mail.
If you arrive late for your appointment you may have to wait to be seen or be rescheduled.
Unplanned Appointments
Appointment times are held in reserve each day to see patients who are unexpectedly ill or injured. If you are not feeling well or believe you need to be seen the same day by one of our providers, call us as early in the day as possible and we will make every effort to see you.
Emergencies
In life threatening situations, dial 911, or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency department. Without haste, please summon emergency help before you attempt to communicate with our office. If there is a critical situation, your local paramedics will provide medical support and transport to the nearest hospital. The emergency department staff will consult with us as needed.
After Hours
One of our physicians is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to address urgent situations. To reach a physician after regular hours, please call 610-903-6200 and then select the prompt for “emergencies.” Our answering service will contact us and will provide a description of your medical concern to the physician on call. Calls will be returned as quickly as possible.
We encourage you to reserve non-emergency calls for regular office hours when we are fully staffed so that the on-call physician can devote his/her after-hour attention to hospitalized patients.
Prescription Refills
We refill prescriptions only during office hours, as we need to consult with your physician and evaluate your medical records to check on dosages and medical history. Please plan ahead so you do not run out of important prescriptions. Always have the phone number of your pharmacy available when you call. If you have a preferred pharmacy we will be glad to add it to your records to facilitate the refill process.
We will be pleased to call to renew or refill prescriptions at your pharmacy. We ask that you tell us the name and dosage of your medication and the name and phone number (and the fax number if possible) of your pharmacy. Email or phone requests will be sent to the pharmacy within 48 business hours. Please email us at prescriptions@afwmedicine.com. Please, in all communications, include your first name, last name, middle initial, date of birth, phone number and email address.
